Electric MX

Start Date: January 2022

End Date: Ongoing

Background:

We are currently undergoing a revolution in transport as we move from ICE powertrains to electric systems. Cars are leading the way but now battery technology is reaching the stage where it is viable for bikes.

There have been product released at both ends of the spectrum, originaly with childerens wlectric bikes and recently with several full size electric MX bikes, the Stark Varg being the most promising so far. However... There are no mid size bikes (equivilent to a 85cc 2 stroke mx bike). That is the target mmarket for this project.

Project Scope:

2 Models, 1 size each, 2 colourways each.

In-house design: Frame including subframe and swingarm. Seat, Plastics

2 models are to be designed, one with 17"/14" wheels. And a "smallwheel" version with 14"/12" wheels.

Both models must both use the same chassis and plastics. This results in a difficult balance to make sure both bikes look correctly proportioned.

In order to make sure these bikes meet government legislation it is vital that they are primarily offroad vehicles. Companies like SurRon have found success by making electric bikes that overlap heavily with mountain bikes allowing users to adapt them easily for illegal road use
